CHARLOTTESVILLE — The third ranked Virginia women’s soccer team returns to action on Thursday night as it hosts intrastate rival Virginia Tech. Game time is 8 p.m. and the contest will be televised nationally by Fox Soccer Channel.

The first 300 fans through the Klckner Stadium gates will receive a free UVa T-Shirt. In addition, there will be $1 concessions on select menu items. Admission for Thursday’s game will be $1 for all SOCA youth in their jerseys.

Virginia enters the match as the only ACC team undefeated in conference play this season with a 3-0-3 record. Overall, the Cavaliers are 9-1-4 and are unbeaten in their last 11 games. Virginia leads the nation with a 0.262 goals against average, having posted 11 shutouts in 14 games this season.

The Hokies are 5-5-3 on the year and 1-3-2 in the ACC. Virginia Tech is coming off its first conference win of the season, a 4-1 victory at NC State on Sunday.

Thursday’s game is the 12th all-time meeting between the schools with Virginia holding an 11-0-0 advantage in the series, including a 7-0-0 mark in Charlottesville. Last season, the Cavaliers topped the Hokies 2-1 at Klckner Stadium.

The Cavaliers will be off for a week following the game before hosting Maryland on October 25. That match will be the final home regular season game for Virginia. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
