CHARLOTTESVILLE — The third ranked Virginia women’s soccer team closes out the home part of its regular season schedule on Thursday when it hosts Maryland. Game time at Klckner Stadium is 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast live online by ACC Select.

The Cavaliers (10-1-4, 4-0-3 ACC) enter the game on a 12-game unbeaten streak and are the only team undefeated in ACC play this season. Virginia has been off for the last week since a 2-0 win over Virginia Tech on October 18. The Cavaliers continue to have the nation’s top defense, leading the country in goals against average (0.25) and shutouts (12). Goalkeeper Chantel Jones (Midlothian, Va.) is the individual national leader in GAA with a mark of 0.252. Offensively, Virginia is led by Shannon Foley (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), with eight goals and seven assists on the season.

Maryland (5-6-3, 0-5-1 ACC) is looking for its first conference win after playing Duke to a 2-2 draw in Durham on Sunday. Four of Maryland’s five conference defeats have come by one goal, including two in overtime. The Terrapins are led by Nataly Arias, who leads the team in scoring with four goals.

The game is the 29th all-time meetings between the schools with Virginia holding a 22-3-3 advantage in the series. The Cavaliers’ 22 victories over Maryland are their most against any opponent. Last season, the Terrapins scored a 2-0 victory over Virginia at Ludwig Field.

Following the match, Virginia will close out the regular season with road games at No. 16 Boston College (Oct. 28) and No. 7 North Carolina (Nov. 2).
