CHARLOTTESVILLE Ross LaBauex scored his third goal in as many games, but the 21st-ranked Virginia men’s soccer team fell on the road to top-ranked Wake Forest, 3-1, at Spry Soccer Stadium Friday night.

Down 2-0 in the first half after Demon Deacon goals by Michael Lahoud and Zack Schilawski, Labauex finished a pass from Jonathan Villanueva in the 43rd minute. The goal, his sixth of the year, pulled the Cavaliers within one at the half.

The Cavaliers’ comeback in the second stanza fell short, as Lyle Adams gave Wake Forest (15-1-2, 6-1-1 ACC) an insurance goal in the 70th minute on a free kick and assist by Sam Cronin.

In goal for UVa, Michael Giallombardo had seven saves.
