Virginia Welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson To John Paul Jones Arena Sunday

CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia women’s basketball team hosts Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday at noon at John Paul Jones Arena. Live stats will be available and the game will be broadcast on WINA 1070 AM in Charlottesville.
Virginia has won four of its last five games, including an 84-60 victory over Wisconsin Friday night in the inaugural women’s basketball ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Four Cavaliers are averaging double figures in scoring, led by Monica Wright (16.8 ppg), and followed by Lyndra Littles (16.7 ppg), Aisha Mohammed (12.5) and Paulisha Kellum (12.4 ppg). The Cavaliers are receiving votes in the both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, released on Nov. 27.
Fairleigh Dickinson has a 1-4 overall record, and the Knights are led by Jennifer Walkling, who averages 16.2 points per game. Head coach Peter Cinella is in his first season.
Sunday’s game vs. FDU marks the fifth game the Cavaliers have played in the last 10 days. After three games in Hawaii from Nov. 23-25, Virginia returned home for a game Friday night and has a quick turnaround for Sunday’s noon tip-off against FDU.
