CHARLOTTESVILLE A pair of Cavaliers were honored as Soccer Buzz Magazine announced its list of finalists for its national awards. Junior defender Nikki Krzysik (Clifton, N.J.) is one of 14 players selected as a finalist for National Player of the Year and first-year midfielder Sinead Farrelly (Havertown, Pa.) is one of 14 finalists for National Freshman of the Year.

Krzysik has anchored a defensive group this season that leads the nation in goals against average and posted a school record 15 shutouts. She earned her second consecutive first-team All-ACC selection after starting every game on the UVa backline and posting a career-high four goals and three assists.

Farrelly was the first Cavalier freshman since Angela Hucles in 1996 to earn first-team All-ACC honors. She had five goals and four assists her rookie campaign as was named Co-National Rookie of the Year by Top Drawer Soccer.

The Cavaliers concluded the season with a 13-4-6 record after falling to top-ranked UCLA 2-1 in overtime in the NCAA round of 16. Krzysik and Farrelly are among 21 players on this season’s roster with eligibility remaining for next year.
