CHARLOTTESVILLE — Sean Singletary had 20 points and eight assists to lead Virginia to a 91-61 victory over Elon Saturday at John Paul Jones Arena. Adrian Joseph added 16 points (all in the second half), Jerome Meyinsse had a career-high 12 points, and Jeff Jones scored 10 points for the Cavaliers, who improve to 9-2 on the season.

Singletary scored 12 of his points in the first 11 minutes of the game, as the Cavaliers opened up a 30-14 lead midway through the first half. Virginia led 47-34 at halftime. Joseph scored his first 10 points of the game in the first four minutes after the break, helping Virginia extend the lead to 20 points early in the second half. The Cavaliers would increase the advantage to 30 points at the end of the game.

The Cavaliers shot 50.0 percent (32-64) from the floor and 74.1 percent (20-27) from the line as they scored at least 90 points for the fifth time this season. Elon shot 40.7 percent (22-54) from the floor and 69.2 percent (9-13) from the line.

Monty Sanders led Elon with 15 points off the bench. Ola Atoyebi and Brett James each had 13 points and Chris Long added 12 points for the Phoenix, who fell to 5-7 on the season.
