TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. The No. 6 Virginia women’s soccer team opened its 2008 season with a 2-1 victory over No. 5 Notre Dame Saturday afternoon in an exhibition contest. The game concluded the Cavaliers’ week-long training camp in Traverse City, Mich.

The teams played Saturday’s exhibition in three 30-minute periods. Virginia took the early lead in the third minute as Caitlin Miskel (Boca Raton, Fla.) scored. The Fighting Irish drew even in the 23rd minute on Courtney Rosen’s unassisted goal that curled into the upper corner from 30-yards out.
