Krzysik Named to Hermann Trophy Watch List

CHARLOTTESVILLE Virginia senior defender Nikki Krzysik (Clifton, N.J.) was one of 47 players named to the preseason watch list for the Hermann Trophy, annually given to the nation’s top collegiate male and female soccer player. It marks the second consecutive year that Krzysik was named to the preseason watch list.

Last season Krzysik was a first-team NSCAA All-American. She started all 23 games and helped lead a defensive unit that ranked first nationally with a 0.40 goals against average and set a school record with 15 shutouts. Offensively, she set career highs with four goals and three assists.

The NSCAA will announce 15 semifinalists for the award in November and the three finalists in December. The winner will be announced in January.

The Cavaliers open the season on Friday as they host Loyola (Md.). Game time at Klckner Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
