CHARLOTTESVILLE — Virginia closes out its season-opening three game homestand with a pair of games this weekend against in-state foes. The Cavaliers host Liberty on Friday and VCU on Sunday. Both games are slated to begin at 6 p.m. and are followed by the Cavalier men playing at 8 p.m. (Friday vs. St. John’s, Sunday vs. SMU).

Friday’s game is the eighth all-time meeting between Virginia and Liberty with the Cavaliers holding a 7-0-0 advantage in the series. Last year the Cavaliers topped the Flames 5-0 at Klckner Stadium. Sunday’s game is the fourth all-time meeting between Virginia and VCU with the Cavaliers holding a 2-0-1 edge in the series. The last meeting came in 2006, a 1-0 Cavalier win at Klckner Stadium.

The Cavaliers are coming off a 4-0 victory over Loyola (Md.) in their season opener last week. Kelly Quinn (Dublin, Ohio) scored twice to lead Virginia, while Lindsey Miller (Nashua, N.H.) and Nikki Krzysik (Clifton, N.J.) also scored for the Cavaliers. Celeste Miles (Garland, Texas) made her first career start in goal and posted the shutout.
