USC Players’ Quotes

Southern California junior quarterback Mark Sanchez
On the upcoming year:

“I feel very comfortable with the offense this year. My injury really made me take a step back and think about what I wanted this season to be. We came into camp with so many expectations, and then my knee gives out; but thanks to the training staff and the medicine, I was able to get back in shape. We have a big opponent (Ohio State) to prepare for, and I need every second of these next two weeks to get things right.”

On Damian Williams:
“Damian Williams made a big difference out there on the field. I feel so comfortable throwing him the ball. We also had our burners on the outside like (Ronald Johnson) and (Travon Patterson) and help from our big guys Patrick (Turner) and David Ausberry. They had an awesome game today and were making some big time catches. I think you see that chemistry between the wideouts and me, and that’s also a testament of our friendship too. We really build that trust outside of the field, and when we are on the field nothing changes. We really trust each other.”

Linebacker Rey Maualuga
On Mark Sanchez:

“Mark was hurt. But just how strong he was and that mental and physical part of him that brought him back was unbelievable. He came out and did an unbelievable job, and nobody thought he was going to do so well, but he proved them wrong.”

Linebacker/defensive end Clay Matthews
On the supporters:

“Virginia really had momentum from their fans at the beginning of the game. When it got to be the third and fourth quarter, you could really hear the USC fans, especially the band playing the fight song.”
