CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia men’s tennis team returns to action this weekend as it hosts the inaugural UVa Ranked Plus One Invitational. The 48-player field consists of 18 ranked singles players as top teams from around the country come to Charlottesville.
The singles field is highlighted by three players that competed in last year’s NCAA Singles Championship. That group consists of 2008 NCAA Runner-Up J.P. Smith of Tennessee, who lost in the final to Virginia’s Somdev Devvarman, along with Austen Childs of Louisville and Enrique Oliveras of East Tennessee State.
Play at the event, which has two 24-player singles draws and three 8-team doubles draws begins on Friday and runs through Sunday. The action begins each day at 9 a.m. and admission is free.
