CHARLOTTESVILLE — The No. 15 Virginia women’s soccer teams begins ACC play on Thursday as it visits No. 8 Florida State. Game time at the Seminole Soccer Complex is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will be aired onlibe by ACC Select.

The Cavaliers are 6-1-1 after suffering their first loss of the season on Sunday, 3-0 at West Virginia. Florida State also enters the game with a 6-1-1 record. The Seminoles are unbeaten in their last three games (2-0-1), including a 4-0 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday in their last outing.

Virginia has won its last five ACC openers, including a 2-0 win at Duke in last season’s league opener. Overall, Virginia has a 13-7-1 record in ACC openers, including a 6-2-0 mark under Steve Swanson.

Thursday’s game is the 17th all-time meeting between the schools with Virginia holding a 13-0-3 advantage in the series. The Cavaliers are the only ACC team that Florida State has never beaten. The last two meetings between the schools have been tied, a 0-0 draw in Tallahassee in 2006 and a 1-1 tie at Klckner Stadium last year.

Following Thursday’s game, the Cavaliers will travel to Miami where they will take on the Hurricanes on Sunday. Virginia returns home for its ACC home opener on October 2 when its host NC State.
