CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team concluded an impressive performance at the UVa Classic at the Snyder Tennis Center, its first tournament of the year. The Cavaliers won five flight titles, three in singles and two in doubles at the event.

In the A1 singles final, Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) rallied from dropping the first set to down teammate Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. The A2 singles final was also a battle of Virginia teammates, with first-year Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) topped Lee Singer (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) 6-2, 6-2. In the B singles final, Santiago Villegas (Bogota, Colombia) topped Jason Morgenstern of Wake Forest.

Top-seeded Singh and Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) won the A1 doubles title, defeating Hannah and Atalay of George Washington 8-4. Courtney and Singer fell in the A2 doubles final, 8-6, to Steve Forman and Ian Atkinson of Wake Forest. First-years Brian Fang (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) and Dino Dell’Orto (Hong Kong, China) took the Flight C doubles title.
