CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis team continued play Saturday at the UVa Fall Invitational at the Snyder Tennis Center. The tournament, the Cavaliers’ only home fall tournament, features eight teams and will run through Sunday.

Day two of the tournament began with the quarterfinals and semifinals in all three doubles draws. All three Cavalier doubles teams won both of their matches to advance to the flight finals. In Flight A, the team of Jennifer Stevens (Miami, Fla.) and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) topped the team of Stojic and Jocic of South Carolina 8-3 and the team of Fahoum and Dobrowolska of Old Dominion to reach the flight final.

In Flight B, Sunday’s final will feature a pair of Cavalier teams. Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) defeated the team of Leonard and Adler of Dartmouth 8-4 and the team of Zapranza and Lock of Marshall 8-3 to reach the final. They will play Maria Fuccillo (Rockville, Md.) and Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) in the final. Fuccillo and Fraser defeated Smith and Miller from NC State 8-5 and Pereira and Maisak of South Carolina 8-5.

In Flight A singles, Hardenbergh advanced to Sunday’s final when her opponent had to default. In the backdraw of Flight A, Vierra advanced to the fifth place match with her win over teammate Stevens. Tomljanovic also won the backdraw of Flight A, defeating Acharya of William & Mary.

Neela Vaez (Perrysburg, Ohio) advanced the Flight C final with her 7-5, 6-3 win over Zapranza of Marshall.

The tournament concludes Sunday with play beginning at 9 a.m. The day three schedule consists of one round of doubles followed by one round of singles. Admission is free.
