CHARLOTTESVILLE — The No. 14 Virginia women’s soccer team begins a three-match homestand Sunday when it hosts Clemson at 2 p.m. Both teams are looking for their first conference victory of the season after dropping their openers on Thursday.

The Cavaliers (5-2-2, 0-1-0 ACC) had their seven-game unbeaten streak snapped on Thursday with a 2-1 loss at NC State. The loss also snapped Virginia’s six-year streak of winning its ACC opener.

The Tigers (3-6-0, 0-1-0 ACC) is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss at Virginia Tech in their ACC opener on Thursday. Clemson is coached by Hershey Strosberg, who spent seven seasons (2001-07) as an assistant coach at Virginia.

Clemson leads the all-time series 10-8-1, but Virginia is undefeated (5-0-1) in the last six meetings with the Tigers. Last year Virginia won 7-1 at Clemson, led by Sinead Farrelly’s hat trick.
