CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia women’s soccer team returns to action Wednesday night as they welcome in-state rival Virginia Tech to Klöckner Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The No. 18 ranked Cavaliers enter the game with a 6-2-2 overall record and a 1-1-0 record in the ACC. Virginia is coming off a 3-0 victory over Clemson on Sunday. Caitlin Miskel (Boca Raton, Fla.), Jess Rostedt (Kent, Ohio) and Lauren Alwine (Elizabethtown, Pa.) scored for the Cavaliers, while Chantel Jones (Midlothian, Va.) posted her fourth shutout of the season in goal.

The Hokies (8-2-0, 2-0-0 ACC) enter the game on a five-game winning streak. They are coming off wins against Clemson and NC State last week to open conference play.

Wednesday’s game is the 15th all-time meeting between the schools with Virginia holding a 12-1-1 advantage in the series. However, last season the Hokies got the better of both meetings. Virginia Tech won the regular season meeting 1-0 in Blacksburg. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in the ACC Tournament semifinals with the Hokies advancing to the final on penalty kicks.

Following the game, Virginia will have eight days off before returning to action on Oct. 8 to host No. 24 Maryland.
