Elstein, Ragukas Selected to Play in All-Star Game

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior field hockey players Lauren Elstein and Traci Ragukas have been selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior All-Star Game, the organization announced Wednesday. The game will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Wake Forest University, site of the NCAA semifinals.
Ragukas, a native of Sweet Valley, Pa., has seven goals and five assists this season, including two game-winners. Her 51 career goals rank sixth all-time in the Virginia record books.
Elstein, who hails from Fredericksburg, Va., has switched from forward to back several times throughout her career, and this season has been a key contributor to the Cavalier defense.
The ACC leads all conferences with nine selections on the 38-person roster.
In addition to the all-star game, the U.S. Women’s National Team and its staff will be travelling to Winston-Salem for a scrimmage against the Division I Senior All-Stars.
The NCAA semifinals will be held on Friday, Nov. 20, with the 2009 championship game set for Sunday, Nov. 22.
Virginia (14-2, 1-2 ACC) returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wake Forest.
