CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia freshman Will Bates (Chester, Va.) has been named’s Player of the Week, the organization announced Monday (Oct. 26).

Bates extended his scoring streak to four games with a goal on Sunday (Oct. 25) against Boston College, netting the game-winning goal in the 58th minute. The rookie also scored the game-winning goal in the Cavaliers’ 2-0 win over Howard on Tuesday (Oct. 20).

With six goals on the year, Bates leads the 10-3-1 Cavaliers in scoring. He has also tallied an assist. Virginia has won three-straight games.

Virginia, ranked No. 12 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), travels to No. 5 Maryland for its next match. Kick-off from Ludwig Field in College Park, Md., on Saturday, Oct. 31, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
