CHARLOTTESVILLE. – Virginia junior tennis player Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) continued his impressive run at the Virginia National Bank Men’s Professional Tennis Championship at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Singh advanced to the quarterfinals of the event, which is a $50,000 tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour.

On Thursday, Singh topped Scoville Jenkins, the world No. 230, in the round of 16, 1-6, 7-6(4), 6-4. That followed a first-round win over world No. 156 Grega Zemlja. He plays No. 105 Kevin Kim in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Singh joins two former Cavaliers in the quarterfinals. Somdev Devvarman topped Izak van der Merwe in three sets in the second round. He plays Matwe Middelkoop in the quarterfinals. Dominic Inglot upset No. 164 Roko Karanusic in the second round and will play Donald Young in the quarterfinals.

In doubles, the team of former Cavaliers Inglot and Rylan Rizza have reached the semifinals. They will return to action on Saturday.

Main draw play runs through the final on Sunday. Admission for the main draw is $7 per day ($5 for BHSC members).
