CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia junior Chris Henrich (Lansdale, Pa.) has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week after posting three wins last Saturday in the 174-pound weight class – including two against nationally-ranked opponents – at the Northeast Duals in Troy, N.Y.

The ACC weekly honor is the second of Henrich’s career. He also nabbed co-wrestler of the week laurels on Nov. 18, 2008. Henrich is the second Cavalier wrestler to earn the distinction this year, joining Brent Jones, who earned the award Nov. 17.

Henrich, ranked fourth this week by InterMat at 174 pounds, scored two dominating wins with a 19-3 technical fall over Sacred Heart’s Michael Hartman and 7-0 drubbing of No. 11 Ryan Patrovich of Hofstra. He also posted a 3-1 decision over Central Michigan’s Ben Bennett, who was ranked No. 14 at the time but has since jumped to No. 5.

Henrich, as well as the majority of his Cavalier teammates, will compete in the Penn State Open this Sunday in State College, Pa. Virginia, which moved up to No. 18 this week in the InterMat team rankings, is off from team competition until Dec. 19 when the Cavaliers travel to UNC Greensboro and Appalachian State.
