CHENNAI, India – Virginia junior Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) continued his success at the Aircel Chennai Open on the ATP Tour, teaming with former Cavalier All-American Somdev Devvarman to reach the semifinals of the doubles draw. Singh and Devvarman, who received a wild card entry into field, downed Jeff Coetzee and Rogier Wassen 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Singh and Devvarman are playing their first tournament as a team, as they didn’t play together in doubles during their one season as Cavalier teammates in 2007-08. Coetzee and Wassen are both veterans of the tour and are each ranked in the top 70 in the world in the ATP doubles rankings.

On Monday, Singh and Devvarman upset No. 4 seed Rik de Voest and Scott Lipsky 6-2, 7-5 in the opening round.

The duo will play Saturday in the semifinals against either the team of Stanislas Wawrinka and Yves Allegro or the team of Yen-Hsun Lu and Janko Tipsarevic.
