CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Virginia senior offensive guard Patrick Slebonick has been named to the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Football team, announced by league commissioner John Swofford.

The native of Stafford, Va., was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine All-District III football team last November, as he was one of five players from the ACC in District III to get the nod.

Slebonick was a starter on special teams at Virginia for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. He is a member of UVa’s student-athlete advisory council and one of the co-founders of the ACE Program at UVa that mentors local elementary school students. He has been named to the UVa Academic Honor Roll six times.

Slebonick completed his undergraduate degree in government in May with a 3.408 grade point average. He currently has a 3.9 GPA as a student in the graduate school of education. He has been named to the ACC’s Academic Honor Roll the past four years.

To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. All 12 ACC schools were represented by at least one selection on the team. The ACC has selected an ACC All-Academic Football team every year since 1954 and Slebonick is the 195th Cavalier to earn such honors.
