CHARLOTTESVILLE – Hunter Jumper, a sophomore defender on the Virginia men’s soccer team, was named to the 2009 All-ACC Academic team, the conference announced Wednesday. Jumper, an instrumental member of the Cavaliers’ NCAA Champion squad, earned the honor for the second-consecutive year.

The Plano, Texas, native started 24 games for UVa in the backfield and registered a goal and four assists for six points. The Cavalier defense posted 17 shutouts en route to the 2009 NCAA Championship.

Jumper, a psychology major, was named to the ACC All-Tournament team after the Cavaliers won the conference crown for the 10th time in school history. UVa finished the year with a 19-3-3 record.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
