GREENSBORO, N.C. – After finishing in a tie with North Carolina and Maryland for a share of the regular season crown, the No. 4 Virginia women’s lacrosse team earned the third seed at this week’s ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers will open play against sixth-seed Virginia Tech on Thursday at 5 p.m., at Maryland’s Ludwig Field. The ACC will provide a free live webcast of the game on ACC Select, while live results will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Maryland and No. 4 Virginia all finished the regular season with a 4-1 conference mark, a record that pits the teams as tri-champions for 2010. North Carolina claimed the top seed, as determined by the league’s tie-breaker procedures, while Maryland earned the second seed and Virginia was awarded the third seed.

The winner of the Cavaliers’ match-up with the Hokies will advance to the semifinals and face the Terrapins at 5 p.m. on Friday, with the championship game being scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
