CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Department of Athletics has announced it will add 606 more General Admission seats at Davenport Field. The seats will be located behind the outfield wall in right field and will be available starting with the home series against North Carolina (May 14-16). Tickets are on sale now for the UNC series, as well as the six remaining midweek contests.

The stadium’s capacity will increase to 4,825 starting May 14.

Record-setting crowds have filled Davenport Field throughout the season. Since adding General Admission seats prior to the Georgia Tech series and raising the stadium capacity to 4,219 seats, Virginia has sold out four ACC games, including all three of the games during the Virginia Tech series. UVa set a three-game series attendance record of 12,657 for the Virginia Tech series and currently ranks 21st nationally with an average attendance of 2,780 per game.

UVa added 300 General Admission seats along the first-base line prior to the series against Clemson, then installed another 679 General Admission seats alongside those seats in time for the Georgia Tech series.

“The decision to add additional seats is a response to the increasing demand for seating at Davenport Field,” Virginia Executive Associate Athletics Director Jon Oliver said. “The fan support for baseball was incredible during the recent Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech series, and we were able to shatter our previous attendance records. We truly appreciate the fans coming out to support the baseball program and we believe the North Carolina series in May will be an important weekend for the program. Our hope is this decision will make it easier for more fans to enjoy some great baseball.”

In addition to the new seating in right field, additional wheelchair seating has been added. Fans will be able to access the new wheelchair platform along the left-field line at the bottom of the hillside by the foul pole.

Tickets may be ordered online at VirginiaSports.com, in person at the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium, or by phone at (800) 542-UVA1. General admission seating is available in the left-field bleachers, the first base line bleachers, right-field bleachers and on the grass hillside. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth (18 and under), seniors (60 and older), and faculty/staff (limit two per faculty/staff). Advance ticket sales online end four hours prior to the game. The ticket booth and gates open two hours prior to first pitch each day.
