PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Virginia track and field team continued competition today at the 116th running of the Penn Relays. In what some believe to be one the signature events of the Relays – the college men’s distance medley Championship of America relay – the Cavaliers finished 12th.

Virginia’s quartet of sophomore All-American Sintayehu Taye, sophomore Kevin Anding and freshmen Zach Vrhovac and Brett Johnson combined for a time of 9:46.33. Taye started the relay with a 2:59.35 time in the 1200m, before Anding ran 46.33 in the 400m. Vrhovac finished the 800m leg in 1:15.41, while Johnson concluded the final 1600m in 4:09.24.

Junior Adams Abdulrazaaq also competed today, finishing ninth in the college section of the 110m hurdles. Abdulrazaaq finished with a time of 14.10.

Virginia will conclude competition at Penn Relays tomorrow. Events will begin for the Cavaliers at 12:15 p.m., and conclude with the men’s 4x800m relay team vying for the Championship of America title at 4:20 p.m.
