ATLANTA — Two former Virginia women’s soccer players were among the 36 players selected for the inaugural WPS All-Star Game to be held later this month in Atlanta. Philadelphia midfielder Lori Lindsey and Washington defender Becky Sauerbrunn were selected to participate in the game on June 30.

Lindsey was selected as a starter. A member of the US Women’s National Team, she has started nine games for Philadelphia this season. She has two goals and a team-high four assists this season. Her four assists are tied for second among the league leaders.

Sauerbrunn was selected as a reserve. She has played every minute of the season for Washington as a defender.

The game will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally by Fox Soccer Channel.
