CHARLOTTESVILLE – Season tickets and two five-game mini-packages for the 2010-11 Virginia men’s basketball season will go on sale Monday, Aug. 2.

This is a change from recent years when season ticket sales began after the release of the Cavaliers’ schedule by the Atlantic Coast Conference office in late August. This change allows fans to be aware of ticket options for the upcoming season and to have more time to make their buying decision before the Sept. 10 priority-seating deadline.

The ACC office is expected to release Virginia’s 2010-11 men’s basketball schedule in late August or early September. The 18-game home schedule features an exhibition game, nine non-conference games, and eight games against conference opponents.

All courtside seats and lower level seats in UVa’s John Paul Jones Arena must be purchased as part of a season ticket. Season tickets in the lower level cost $405 for Virginia’s 18-game home schedule – the same as last season – and require an annual contribution to the Virginia Athletics Foundation (VAF) and a gift to the John Paul Jones Arena project.

Upper level season tickets in many areas cost $405 ($324 for UVa faculty and staff), the same as a year ago. An annual contribution to VAF and a gift to the John Paul Jones Arena project may be required for some seat locations.

A new offering for 2010-11 are season tickets in the higher rows of upper level sections priced at $183 ($147 for UVa faculty and staff). A three-month payment plan option is available for all season ticket purchases.

Two five-game mini-packages will also be on sale starting Aug. 2. This is a change from past seasons when mini-packages were not available until mid-October. The Weekend 5 mini-package includes Virginia’s games against Boston College, Georgia Tech, LSU, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech. The Power 5 mini-package features UVa’s match-ups with Clemson, Duke, Iowa State, Maryland, and NC State. Dates and times for these games will be announced when the full schedule is released by the ACC.

Mini-packages are available in the upper level of John Paul Jones Arena and cost either $133 or $62 depending on the seating location. Seating locations will be assigned following the season ticket assignment process.

Another change this season is single-game ticket pricing will not vary by opponent. Single-game tickets, a six-game Holiday Hoo Crew package, and Family package tickets go on sale Oct. 15. Single-game tickets start at $13 for every 2010-11 home game.

Virginia’s 2009-10 men’s basketball season ticket holders will receive an e-mail outlining the renewal process as well as an application in the mail the week of Aug. 2.

Fans can purchase tickets online at VirginiaSports.com starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 2. In-person or telephone purchases also begin Monday at 9 a.m. by calling 1-800-542-UVA1 (8821) or locally at 434-924-UVA1 (8821) or in-person at the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium.
