CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 7 Virginia women’s soccer team opens a three-game homestand on Friday as it hosts Richmond at Klöckner Stadium. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

The game will be the middle of a soccer tripleheader at Klöckner Stadium. Action begins at 2:30 p.m. with a men’s game between St. John’s and Virginia Tech. Following the UVa-Richmond women’s game at 5:30 p.m., the reigning NCAA Champion Virginia men’s soccer team opens its season by hosting UAB at 8 p.m.

The Cavaliers are looking to remain unbeaten in 2010, entering the game with a 3-0-1 record. Virginia played a pair of double overtime games last weekend at the Penn State Invitational, tying the host Nittany Lions 1-1 on Friday and topping Connecticut 1-0 on Sunday. Richmond is 1-2-1 on the season and is coming off a 2-1 loss at Tennessee on Sunday.

Virginia leads the all-time series between the schools 5-1-1, but the teams haven’t met since 2005. In the last meeting, the Cavaliers downed the Spiders 9-0 at Klöckner Stadium.

The Cavaliers return to Klöckner Stadium the following week as they host the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic Sept. 10-12. On Friday, Virginia plays Texas at 7 p.m., after William & Mary and Boston University play at 4:30 p.m. On Sunday, Virginia and Boston University play at 2 p.m., following the noon matchup between Texas and William & Mary.
