Tailgate: Sham-WOW!

Bax Brats

  • 15 bratwurst sausages
  • 15 potato bread hot dog buns
  • 2 tbsp. horseradish mustard
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 12 oz. beer
  • 12 oz. water
  • hot sauce to taste
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • In 6-qt. pot, caramelize onions in oil, sugar, and mustard.
  • Add bratwursts, beer, hot sauce and water to pot, bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Remove brats, cook onions until liquid is reduced (drain excess liquid if necessary). Set onions aside.
  • Grill brats until brown.
  • Serve brats in bun, top with the onions.
