CHARLOTTESVILLE – The third-ranked Virginia men’s soccer team hosts Longwood in non-conference action Tuesday (Sept. 28) night. Kick-off from Klöckner Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m., and live statistics will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

Virginia (5-1-1, 1-1-1 ACC) is coming off a 1-0 victory at Clemson on Saturday (Sept. 25) night. Sophomore midfielder Ari Dimas (Chesapeake, Va.) scored the unassisted game-winning goal in the 88th minute to lead UVa to victory.

It was Dimas’ first goal of the season and gave Virginia its second-consecutive victory. The ‘Hoos shut out American, 2-0, on Tuesday (Sept. 21) as Will Bates (Chester, Va.) and Brian Ownby (Glen Allen, Va.) scored goals.

Bates leads the UVa offense with three goals and one assist, and Jimmy Simpson (Warrenton, Va.) has also scored three times this season. Rookie forward Brian Span (Somers, N.Y.), Ownby, and sophomore defender Sean Hiller (Howell, N.J.) have all registered two goals so far this year.

Senior goalkeeper and preseason All-America selection Diego Restrepo (West Palm Beach, Fla.) has started all seven of the Cavaliers’ matches in 2010 and has recorded four shutouts. He has allowed four goals for a 0.55 goals-against average.

Longwood has an overall record of 0-7-1, and fell 1-0 to Radford in its last outing on Sept. 25. The Lancers are led by Harvey Headley and Zach Mahon with two goals apiece.

Virginia leads the all-time series with Longwood, 5-0-1, including a 2-0 shutout of the Lancers in last year’s regular-season meeting.

Tuesday night marks the first of six-consecutive home contests for UVa. On Friday, Oct. 1, the Cavaliers return to Atlantic Coast Conference play when they host North Carolina at 7 p.m.
