CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior forward Meghan Lenczyk (McLean, Va.) was named the NSCAA National Player of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday. Lenczyk, who scored the overtime game-winner against No. 1 Boston College on Sunday, becomes the first Cavalier player to receive the honor.

Lenczyk’s goal against Boston College gave Virginia a 3-2 overtime win against the top-ranked Eagles, the Cavaliers’ first ever win against a No. 1 team. It was her team-leading ninth goal of the season and her conference-leading fifth game-winning goal of the season. Earlier in the week, Lenczyk had a goal and an assist in Virginia’s 3-2 loss at No. 5 Maryland. She has a goal or an assist in every conference game this season.

In addition to being named NSCAA National Player of the Week, Lenczyk was also named ACC Co-Player of the Week and a CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer of the Week.

The No. 6 Cavaliers (8-2-1, 2-1-0) continue their homestand on Friday as they host No. 3 North Carolina. Game time at Klöckner Stadium is 7 p.m.
