LOS ANGELES – The Virginia doubles team of Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) won their first round match Thursday at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships at the Riviera Country Club.

Fraser and Tomljanovic topped the NC State duo of Sanaa Bhambri and Sandhya Nagaraj 9-7 to advance to the second round. They will meet reigning NCAA Champions Hilary Barte and Lindsay Burdette on Friday in the round of 16.

The Cavalier team of Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) lost their first round match 9-8 to Anna Bartenstein and Bianca Eichkorn of Miami.

Fraser lost in the final round of singles qualifying on Thursday, falling to Connie Hsu of Penn 6-4, 6-1.

Play continues Friday and runs through Sunday at the Riviera Country Club.
