Chapel Hill, NC – The ninth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team is in fifth place after 36 holes of play at North Carolina’s Tar Heel Invitational. The Cavaliers shot 1-over 289 during the second round for a two-day total of 3-over 579. Alabama leads the field at 25-under 551.

UVa’s Brittany Altomare led the team with a 3-under 69 to stand fourth overall at 7-under 137. Calle Nielson is in 22nd place at even par 144 after posting a 73 Saturday. Portland Rosen is in 36th place at 2-over 146. She shot 72 during the second round. Lauren Greenlief and Nicole Agnello are tied for 70th at 152. They both shot 75 during the second round.

Alabama’s Brooke Pancake carries a two-shot lead into the finald round. She leads the field at 10-under 134, two shots ahead of teammate Camilla Lennarth.
