CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s soccer team opens play in the 2010 NCAA Tournament Friday as it hosts Lehigh in a first-round game at Klöckner Stadium. Game time is 5 p.m. and is the first game of a NCAA doubleheader, with UNC Greensboro and South Carolina to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Virginia is the No. 2 seed in the Maryland region and enters the tournament with a 13-4-2 record. Last week, the Cavaliers fell in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament 1-0 to Boston College. UVa received an at-large selection to the tournament and is making its 17th consecutive NCAA appearance and 23rd appearance overall.

Lehigh is making its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Patriot League Championship last week. The Mountain Hawks (11-4-4) upset regular season champion Army 1-0 in the final.

Friday’s game is the first ever meeting between Virginia and Lehigh. It marks the third consecutive year that the Cavaliers have played a first-time opponent in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It is also the third consecutive year that Virginia’s first round opponent is making its NCAA Tournament debut.

Tickets are $9 for reserved seats, $7 for adult general admission, and $5 for youth/student/senior citizen general admission. Fans can order tickets for the tournament online on the UVa Athletics Tickets Web site and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of play.

Game-day parking is $5 per day. Parking is available at the Cage Lot of University Hall and the Emmet/Ivy Garage.

The winners of Friday’s games will meet in the second round, a game scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Klöckner Stadium.
