Charlottesville, VA – Virginia senior women’s golfer Calle Nielson has been honored for the third consecutive year by the Tennessee Golf Association as its top women’s amateur player. Nielson is from Nashville where she attended University School.

In June she won the Tennessee Women’s Amateur Championship, finishing first in both the stroke play and match play finals. In July Nielson qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship where she advanced to the round of 16 in match play.

Nielson was named an honorable mention All-American following Virginia’s 2009-10 season when she helped the Cavaliers to a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She was the medalist at the NCAA West Regional and tied for second at the ACC Championships. She received All-ACC honors for the third time in her career.
