First year members of the Virginia softball team will be revealing 20 random facts about themselves to VirginiaSports.com this week as the Cavaliers gear up for the 2011 season-opening tournament next weekend (Feb. 12-13) in Buies Creek, N.C. Up first is Marcy Bowdren, a native of Fairfax Station, Va.

1. I’ve climbed a volcano.

2. I high jumped in high school.

3. I played field hockey for four years in high school.

4. I lived in Hawaii.

5. I like to make coil pots.

6. I am a dog lover! There is nothing like a cute golden retriever.

7. I used to be a gymnast.

8. I am a neat freak.

9. I’m a military brat and have traveled the world.

10. I drove cross country with my family from Washington to Virginia.

11. I pitched two years in high school.

12. My favorite animal is a hippo.

13. My favorite movie is Forrest Gump.

14. My grandparents have a beach house in Fire Island and I go there every summer.

15. I hate roller coasters.

16. Pasta, pasta, pasta!

17. I want a fountain drink machine in my house.

18. I want a miniature dachshund.

19. I’ve had the same best friends since the third grade.

20. I have two older sisters and they’re my best friends.
