CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia first-year tennis player Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2011 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Domijan, the nation’s No. 2 ranked singles player, helped the Cavaliers win their unprecedented fourth consecutive ITA National Team Indoor Championship this past weekend.

Domijan went 4-0 at No. 2 singles in the tournament, defeating four top 50 players in straight sets. He defeated No. 42 Kyle McMorrow in Virginia’s first round win over host Washington, topped No. 33 Johnny Hamui in the quarterfinal victory over Illinois, downed No. 21 Chase Buchanan in the semifinal win over Ohio State and clinched the championship match with his win over No. 17 John-Patrick Smith of Tennessee.

Domijan was one of six Cavaliers named to the ITA National Team Indoors All-Tournament Team. Domijan was selected to the team at No. 2 singles and was joined by Michael Shabaz (No. 1 singles), Sanam Singh (No. 3 singles), Jarmere Jenkins (No. 4 singles) and Drew Courtney/Steven Rooda (No. 3 doubles).

The top-ranked Cavaliers will be off for two weeks before opening their outdoor season on Mar. 9 as they visit LSU.
