CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s tennis team had four individuals selected to compete in the 2011 NCAA Individual Championships, to be held May 25-30 at the Taube Tennis Center on the campus of Stanford University. The Cavaliers set a pair of school records, earning two singles and two doubles selections for the first time in the program’s history. Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) received bids to the 64-player singles field, while the teams of Fraser and Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.), and Hardenbergh and Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) were selected to the 32-team doubles field.

Hardenbergh, who competed in the singles tournament last season, joins Jen Callen (1993 and 1994) and Alison Cohen (1995 and 1996) as the only Cavaliers to make multiple NCAA Singles Championship appearances. Currently ranked a career-high No. 27, she has a 38-7 record, setting a new school record for wins in a season.

Fraser is making her first NCAA Singles Championship appearance. She has a 27-13 record this season and is currently ranked No. 60 nationally.

The team of Fraser and Tomljanovic are making their first NCAA Doubles Championship appearance. They are 34-13 this season and are currently ranked No. 20 nationally.

Hardenbergh and Vierra are also making their first NCAA Doubles Championship appearance. Currently ranked No. 32 nationally, the duo is 32-10 this season.

Virginia, the No. 11 seed in the NCAA Team Championship, opens play May 14-15 as it hosts first and second round action at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers (18-7) meet Army in the first round on May 14 at noon, with NC State and VCU also competing in the Charlottesville Regional.
