Collins Takes Top Honors at Kenridge Invitational

Charlottesville, VA – Former Virginia golfer Will Collins used a record-setting final round to win the 75th annual Kenridge Invitational at Farmington Country Club. Collins, who just completed his final season at UVa, shot a course record 6-under 64 to win with a three-day total of 6-under 204. His tournament total also tied the scoring record for the event.
Collins shot 3-under on both sides of the course during the final round.
Virginia coach Bowen Sargent, who led the tournament after 54 holes, tied for third at 206.
“He had a great four years at Virginia, and I’m excited to see him win,” Sargent said. “:If I couldn’t win it, I love to see him win it, he’s a good kid.”
A trio of incoming Cavalier freshmen also posted strong showings at the tournament. Nick Tremps and Denny McCarthy tied for eighth at 4-over 214. Ji Soo Park was one shot behind them at 215. UVa assistant coach Jay Fisher also finished at 214.
