Nielson Leads Qualifying at Women's Southern Amateur

Atlanta, GA – Former Virginia golfer Calle Nielson (Nashville, Tenn.) won the qualifying portion of the 2011 Women’s Southern Golf Association Amateur Championship Monday in Atlanta. Nielson shot 1-under 69 to claim the top seed in the 32-player match play portion of the championship. The tournament is taking place at the Capital City Club and runs through Friday.
UVa golfer Elizabeth Brightwell (Nellysford, Va.) tied for third in qualifying with a 72.
Nielson will face Mississippi’s Alyssa Randolph in the first round of match play. Brightwell will square off against Taffy Brower.
