Women's Soccer Receives Pair of Preseason Top 10 Rankings

CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Virginia women’s soccer team has received top 10 preseason rankings in both national polls released this week. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 6 by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 10 by the NSCAA.

Virginia is one of seven ACC teams ranked in the top 14 by Top Drawer Soccer and one of five ACC teams ranked in the top 10 in both polls.

Soccer America and Soccer Times will release their preseason rankings next week.

The Cavaliers play a pair of exhibition games this weekend. On Friday, they play reigning NCAA Champion Notre Dame (No. 1 NSCAA, No. 2 TDS) in Maple City, Mich. On Sunday, they host George Mason at Klöckner Stadium at 7 p.m.

Virginia opens the regular season on August 19 as it host No. 13 West Virginia. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
