CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia volleyball head coach Lee Maes has announced that senior Hillary Trebels (Arlington Heights, Texas) and junior Beth Wildermuth (San Clemente, Calif.) have been named captains for the 2011 season.

Trebels played in 11 matches last season and started three, while Wildermuth appeared in 30 matches and started 27.

“Beth and Hillary epitomize the captain’s role,” Maes said. “Both are well-respected by their peers for their work ethic, attitude, emotional fortitude and selflessness. They exemplify the essence of leadership by making others around them better and more productive. Beth and Hillary are obligate teammates and they understand the symbiosis necessary for team success. They are leaders who are wonderful representatives of our program and its ideals.”
