Justin Armistead Named Director of Event Management for UVa Athletics

CHARLOTTESVILLE-Justin Armistead, a former director of baseball operations at Virginia, has been named director of event management in the UVa athletics department. Jason Bauman, UVa’s associate director of athletics for facilities and operations, announced Armistead’s appointment.
“During his time as director of baseball operations, Justin was an integral part of the success we experienced at baseball events, including hosting NCAA postseason events,” Bauman said. “He was an important part of the baseball team’s first trip to Omaha for the 2009 College World Series.
“Justin understands the details required to be successful and will help us achieve operational excellence. His familiarity with the athletics department and his passion for UVa will be valuable assets for him in this position.”
In his new position at Virginia, Armistead will be responsible for directing all aspects of event management and serving as an event manager for intercollegiate athletics events. He will also serve as tournament manager for assigned NCAA postseason events and ACC championships, provide administrative oversight of the athletics camps program, assist with facility management and work with various sports programs to meet operational needs.
“I am very excited about rejoining the Virginia athletics department,” Armistead said. “UVa is a special place and I feel very fortunate to be a part of the athletics community.”
For the last year Armistead has been a financial advisor with Virginia Asset Management in Midlothian, Va. Prior to that he was the director of baseball operations at Virginia for two years and also served as a student assistant with the baseball program for two years.
Armistead earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Virginia in 2008.
He assumed his responsibilities at UVa on Sept. 12.
