CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team continued play in its first tournament of the fall on Saturday at the UVa Ranked+1 Invitational. The Cavaliers will compete for one singles flight title and two doubles flight titles at the event on Sunday.

In singles, Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) reached the singles final in the orange draw, where he will play Roy Kalmanovich of Illinois. Jenkins topped Andrew Carter of Louisville 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals and Jesus Bandres of ETSU 7-5, 6-3 in the semifinals.

In doubles, Jenkins and Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) reached the finals of the orange doubles draw with a walkover victory. They will Maros Horny and John Collins of Maryland in the final. In white doubles, Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.) and Phillipe Oudshoorn (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands) defeated Luka Somen and Corraco Tocci of Virginia Tech in the semifinals. They will play Carter and Sebastian Stiefelmeyer of Louisville in the final.

The tournament concludes Sunday at the Snyder Tennis Center, with play beginning at 9 a.m. Admission is free.
