Idaho Player Quotes

Senior quarterback Brian Reader
On going for the two-point conversion:

“That’s the way the Vandals do it. It’s worked in the past for us, and we thought we could do it again. It sure was close there at the end, and it just didn’t come out our way this time. I just wasn’t really open, and I was trying to make something out of nothing. I threw it up, really with just a prayer, and almost got a hand on it, to make the two point conversion and win the game, but I didn’t quite make it. “

On his touchdown throw:
“It’s funny how sometimes things work out in football. You can work on things in practice, but when something unexpected like that comes up, you just have to throw the ball up. You hope your great receiver will make a great play; that’s what he’s there for, and that’s what happened.”

On moving forward:
“We know we can battle, we know we can win games. They’re a good football team and they’ve won some big games this year. Now we know we can battle that. There is no reason why we can’t go out and win the rest of our games this season. We’ve got the rest of the WAC and one out of conference, so there is no reason why we can’t end the season 8-4. We’ve just got to get things going and got to start winning.”

Senior linebacker Tre`Shawn Robinson
On the defensive effort:

“We made a commitment to ourselves earlier in the week that we would do everything we can to win this game. We all came together and decided that we’re going to play as hard as we can. That’s what Coach Akey asks of us, and that’s what we try to do.”

On battling back:
“The guys, we wanted it. We talked about that before the game, we give 110 percent every single play. When it came time, we started to feel like we were going to overtime, and we came up a little bit short.”

On going for the two-point conversion:
“It didn’t surprise me at all. Coach Akey is an aggressive coach. He told us that we came out here to win, and we knew that. We battled it out on the field, and we came up a little short.”

On moving forward:
“Keep pushing, keep pushing. We’ve got to move on, next week we have a WAC opponent. We need to use this as drive. We have a burning desire in our hearts to keep playing, to be out here. They were a good team and we’re a good team too, we just have to keep playing.”
