CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior defender Hunter Jumper (Plano, Texas) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Friday. This marks the second straight year Jumper has been selected to the Academic All-District team; last year he was a second-team pick.

Jumper now is eligible for Academic All-America honors.

Jumper has started 14 games this year for the Cavaliers, scoring a goal and adding a pair of assists. He has started each of the 76 matches in which he has played in his UVa career, including 24 games during the Cavaliers’ run to the 2009 national championship.

Majoring in psychology, Hunter is also accomplished on the academics side and has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team and the ACC Academic Honor Roll three times. Prior to the 2011 season, he was selected as one of 30 nominees for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for men’s soccer.

He is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) at Virginia. For his career, Jumper has scored three goals and added 11 assists.

Nominations and voting for the team were conducted by members of CoSIDA. There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA programs).

To be nominated, student-athletes were required to have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and completed at least one academic year at their institution.
