CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior defender Maggie Kistner (St. Louis, Mo.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Friday. It is the first Academic All-District honor of Kistner’s career.

Kistner now is eligible for Academic All-America honors.

Kistner has started all 19 games this season for the Cavaliers, leading the team’s field players with 1,746 minutes played. She has four goals and four assists in her career, starting 67 of her 83 games. Academically, Kistner is majoring in psychology and has a 3.64 grade-point-average. A three-time member of the ACC Honor Roll, she also was a 2010 ACC All-Academic Team selection.

Nominations and voting for the team were conducted by members of CoSIDA. There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII, NAIA, NJCAA programs).

To be nominated, student-athletes were required to have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and completed at least one academic year at their institution.
