SARASOTA, Fla. – The Virginia men’s tennis team won both the singles and doubles titles at the Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Clay Court Intercollegiate Classic. Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.) won the singles title, while Shane and Philippe Oudshoorn (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands) won the doubles title.

Shane defeated Vlad Bondarenko of Oklahoma State in Sunday’s final 7-5, 3-6, 7-5. Earlier in the tournament he posted a pair of ranked wins, defeating 12th-ranked Marcel Thiemann of Ole Miss in the semifinals and No. 93 Fred Saba of Duke in the quarterfinals.

Shane and Oudshoorn rallied for a 9-8 win in Sunday’s final over Danill Proskura and Carlos Taborga of Alabama. The Cavalier duo saved three match points at 7-8, and came back to win in the tiebreaker.
