CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia wrestling team travels to Ithaca, N.Y., on Saturday to compete in Cornell’s Body Bar Invitational. The competition begins at 9 a.m. at Newman Arena.

Virginia will be joined at the Body Bar Invitational by Army, No. 25 Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Buffalo, Columbia, No. 5 Cornell, Drexel, Ithaca, Kent State, Lock Haven and No. 3 Minnesota.

UVa has a trio of wrestlers who are currently listed in InterMat’s individual rankings. No. 6 Matt Snyder (R-Jr., Lewistown, Pa.) stands sixth at 125 pounds, Nick Nelson (R-Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) is No. 12 at 141 and Jon Fausey (R-So., Dalmatia, Pa.) is No. 15 at 184.

The invitational will serve as a homecoming of sorts for Virginia head coach Steve Garland and assistant coach Jordan Leen. Garland was an assistant coach at Cornell from 2001-06, while Leen was a national champion and three-time All-American while wrestling for the Big Red.

UVa had a strong showing last Sunday at the Wolfpack Open, as the Cavaliers put eight competitiors in the finals. Snyder (125), Nelson (141), Jedd Moore (157), Nick Sulzer (165) and Fausey (184) all won championships at their individual weight classes and three more took runner-up honors.

Virginia returns home next Sunday (Nov. 27) for a 1 p.m. dual against Virginia Tech. The match will be contested at John Paul Jones Arena. Prior to the match, the Virginia wrestling program will hold a clinic from 10-11:30 a.m. Tickets for the dual are on sale now through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office.
